i received my new quote for
british gas cover to be renewed this june. it quoted £35.35
per month.
when checking ther internet it states cover for the same
type of agreement for £26. per month. when checking with British Gas
apparently this quote of £26. is for new customers only.  not clear
on the internet. this is also despite the fact I have had cover with
British Gas for 12 years and in the last two years have only
required my annual boiler check. not exactly straining their
resources. despite this there is no allowance made for customer loyalty.
not a very impressive service to retain customers not attract new
customers.

British Gas Homecare Service 200. I have had this cover for some years
and recently the service has gone down hill fast. In the past I was used to
being told...we shall be with you later today. Last night I was told when I
noticed my heating wasn't working....We can book you in for Tuesday..two days
later!!!! Today the water heating has cut out too. No heating/no hot water. I am
told, sorry that is the only service time available!!! You pay nearly £200 a
year for that! To freeze in winter. I was also recommended to buy the new
condensed boiler I have - which was installed last year, as it would prove more
reliable. 7 months later I experience this problem! My old boiler serviced me
well...This one spending £3,000 cuts out after 7 months! British Gas - service?
What service? No service. Just frustration, and a waste of money.

Under contract with Cover Heat (DO NOT USE ) who did not respond when
my boiler stopped working at the end of 2008. Freezing cold for 2 days so
'phoned British Gas who came out on New Years Day & fixed the problem -
EXCELLENT RESPONSE & SERVICE!

I have just left British Gas as they failed to spot a very dangerous
problem with my boiler - it was deemed 'immediately at risk'. This defect went
unnoticed during 2 visits over a 2 month period and none of the people at
British Gas seemed bothered in the slightest, very infuriating!! This error
meant that my wife & I lived in a house with a boiler deemed to be so at risk it
was disconnected for 2 months. I can sum up British Gas in one word -
incompetent.
